"My complaint on the savage is the wobble in the wind. I understand it is a result of the loose steering – but it can still make for a nasty ride in windy conditions."
"It wobbles on a twisty road at speeds over 70 mph like there's a hinge in the middle of the frame."
"And it's got a stupidly small fuel tank."
"To slow to tour"----------- AMEN to all of the above

I will venture a guess, that the 650 single that Bentwheel is referring to is a BMW; 50 hp and instant response with the fuel injection. It has better steering and suspension. These makes the BMW the choice of improvement on the Savages limitations!!----
------
The reason that I do not have the BMW, is mainly the price difference (twice as much). Also the Savage looks "cute"-----The BMW style does not appeal to me. The BMW sits higher, which is harder for a short legged person like me to foot paddle around in the parking lot.
